The challenge and the solution

Replacing Geringhoff's existing storage system with a two-level META CLIP shelving system has helped the company to significantly increase the storage capacity required to supply the growing agricultural industry in the Midwest of the USA.

The boltless META CLIP shelving system, with a footprint of approximately 327 square meters, provides more than 3,015 square meters of storage space on two levels with a total of 3,124 shelves. The system comprises shelves that can be used on one or both sides, which enable both better access to the stored products and optimum use of space. The extremely torsion-resistant construction ensures safety and durability with different dimensions. The flooring used is the robust and resistant B-Deck from ResinDek Panels, which was specially developed for industrially used platform constructions. The modern safety equipment includes railings, safety doors (swing doors) and a staircase. The swing doors enable safe material handling and provide additional protection for the entire racking system.

The high flexibility of META products enables Geringhoff to adapt the storage capacity to current and future requirements. The shelving can be further modified at any time by adjusting the shelf heights in 25 mm increments, adding additional levels or removing levels that are not required. The increased capacity and efficiency create the necessary flexibility for Geringhoff to continue expanding its successful US business in the long term.

"The whole experience with META was very positive and efficient. It is a huge undertaking to completely revamp an established spare parts department. We were able to complete the work in about 6 weeks. The META container was delivered on time along with FTLs of decking. The fitters were able to install everything very quickly. The whole project ran smoothly.

The META system is extremely easy to use. All shelves were installed uniformly, while individual levels can be easily moved and adjusted. The additional platform level has significantly increased our storage capacity. The platform has pallet transfer stations on both sides with rotating safety transfer points, which makes loading and unloading easy and safe.

Geringhoff has expanded its product range beyond maize pickers and now also offers cutting units for grain, soybeans, sunflowers and millet. With the expansion of the product range, the need for a corresponding supply of spare parts is also increasing. The spare parts department has continued to grow as a result. Our new META system will help us to meet the increasing demands on storage and organization in the future as well."
